Auburn QB commit Holden Geriner tosses 2 incredible TD passes
Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School consensus four-star quarterback and Auburn commit Holden Geriner was on point Friday in the Georgia state Class 4A quarterfinals against Atlanta Marist.
Geriner had three touchdown passes on the day, including two perfectly placed deep balls in the endzone.
The first came in the first half on a deep ball to Zaquan Bryan. Geriner lofted the football high up in the air and found Bryan right in the stride for the touchdown. Geriner couldn’t have placed to the ball any better than he did.
The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – has Hunter Geriner as the No. 267 player and No. 18 quarterback in the nation.
His second came in the second half, and Geriner’s throw on the play was outshined by Justin Thomas’ catch. Geriner once again lofted a well-placed ball to the end zone, where Thomas made an acrobatic catch to grab the football and then displayed excellent footwork to stay in bounds for the score.
The touchdown proved to be a difference-maker as Atlanta Marist was able to score one more touchdown to cut the deficit to three points but not make the full comeback.
The touchdown was the second for Thomas on the day, who had the game’s first score on a long touchdown reception.

Justin Thomas is one of the best football players in northeast Georgia. The all-around athlete plays both ways for the Benedictine Military School as a defensive back and running back/wide receiver.
He has 1,160 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns pus 659 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns entering the game. He also had 35 tackles, five interceptions, a pick-six and a kickoff returned for a touchdown.
His performance throughout the season earned him the Michael Finocchiaro Memorial Outstanding Football Player Award as Savannah’s best football player. Thomas was the co-winner of the award last season, making him only the third player to win the award twice.
But Thomas will not play football at the next level. He has instead signed his National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Georgia.
“Football is another sport that I fell in love with,” Thomas told the Savannah Morning News. “When you’re playing in front of a huge crowd under the lights on a Friday night, hearing the cheers after a big hit or a touchdown run — there’s just nothing like it. I love that atmosphere and will miss it.”
