The Auburn Tigers have an important couple of months under head coach Bryan Harsin, needing to have a solid spring practice before the 2022 season. There was plenty of scrutiny surrounding Harsin and his job security but will have the opportunity to flush it all away with solid performances. It all began on Monday with Auburn back on the practice field.

To announce the start of spring practice to the public, Auburn took to Twitter to post a cringe-worthy tweet, doing their best Michael Jordan imitation. They took the same announcement the legendary NBA player put out when he returned to basketball after a mini hiatus to baseball.

“AUBURN, AL. (March 14, 2022) – The following statement was released today by Auburn Football across all social media platforms and directly from the Auburn Athletics Facility in response to rumors surrounding spring practice.

‘We’re back.'”

The often copied tweet was not well received online, even with Auburn fans not enjoying the announcement.

Even with the poor social media post, Auburn will have things to improve on the field. First off, Harsin will have a quarterback competition on his hands following the departure of Bo Nix to Oregon. Plenty of other needs is out there as well, with the transfer portal taking away some key players.

Following a 6-7 record and suffering the first losing season the program has seen since 2012, Harsin will have more pressure than ever in his second season. Figuring out position groups and making sure the Tigers are ready to compete in the SEC will be a top priority during the spring.

Bryan Harsin comments on Auburn Tigers wide receiver returning to program

In a surprising turn of events, wide receiver Ja’Varrius Johnson, who entered the transfer portal back in January, has elected to return to the team.

Needless to say, Harsin is thrilled to have one of his better playmakers from last year on the outside back with the team. On Monday, the Auburn football coach had this say on the return of Johnson.

“Var was very productive last year. Should’ve been more productive, and could’ve been… To get him back out there, it gives more experience to the wide receiver room,” said Harsin.

In his first season with the Tigers, Johnson showed what made him such an exciting recruit. The Auburn wide receiver caught 19 passes on the season, amassing 274 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, he ran the ball twice on the season, gaining 59 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
