Former Auburn safety Keionte Scott is heading to the Big 12. Scott has committed to Houston, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Scott is heading to Houston after recording 113 career tackles. He is also an excellent punt returner.

Scott is heading to Houston after announcing plans to enter the transfer portal on Christmas Eve. He began his career at the junior college level before transferring to Auburn. He played primarily as a nickel in 2022 before starting at corner. However, Scott’s role as a starter diminished in 2024, as he started just four games while playing 11.

Scott played in 33 career games at Auburn, making 23 starts in total. He had 115 tackles in that span, with six tackles for loss and one sack. He’s got 10 career interceptions, including one pick six. As a JUCO prospect in 2022, Scott was one of the top available players in the country.

He is joining a Houston team that is coming off of a 4-8 season in 2024. The Cougars were 4-5 at one point and had a ranked win over Kansas State. However, they ended the year with three straight losses, including falling to BYU to end the season. Perhaps Scott can help Houston get to another level and reach a bowl game during the 2025 season.

Rice transfer RB Dean Connors commits to Houston

Keionte Scott isn’t the only recent pick up for Houston. Rice Owls transfer running back Dean Connors committed to the Cougars earlier this week.

Connors played high school football at Murrieta Valley (Murrieta, CA), where he was a three-star recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Furthermore, Connors was the No. 497 overall recruit and the No. 38 running back in the transfer portal, according to On3’s Transfer Portal Rankings.

All told, he spent three seasons with Rice, where he ran for 1,679 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also caught 113 passes for 912 yards and six touchdowns, as well.
