LOOK: Bad weather at SoFi Stadium leads to continued drama during National Championship Game
The National Championship Game was plagued by abnormal weather for the area around SoFi Stadium, leading to rain causing issues for fans. The state-of-the-art stadium was designed to have a dome roof for inclement weather, but no walls surrounding the entire facility to allow sunshine and scenic views in all directions.
Unfortunately, the rainy weather on Monday caused rainfall to “flood” sections of the stadium over walkways — forcing employees to put up wet floor signs and “mop” the floors of the stadium to clear out rain water.
SoFi Stadium battling rain during National Championship Game
The normally sunny and beautiful SoFi Stadium battled the elements throughout the night while Georgia and TCU played on the field, with rain causing uncharacteristic issues for the fans in attendance. While the field remained in good shape — with chilly and slightly humid weather on the field according to reports — fans walking around the facility were forced to deal with small flooding issues and wet walkways.
The issues caught the attention of people and fans online as pictures began to circulate of the watery problems and the sight of employees mopping up rain water in a seemingly futile effort. Although the stadium is designed without walls on purpose, the issues on Monday shined a bright light on the unusual design in a rough way for Los Angeles.

Adding to the moment for critics of the decision to host the game at SoFi was the earlier reveal that alcoholic beverages and concessions in general at the stadium were priced high for attendees. With beer costing $17 and hot dogs costing $9 each, a single beer and snack ran patrons of the championship game $26.
On the field, Georgia piled on TCU like the rain outside as they built a 38-7 lead by halftime — a lead they extended to 45-7 within the first five minutes of the third quarter.
