South Carolina transfer EDGE Bangally Kamara names top four schools
South Carolina transfer EDGE Bangally Kamara is eyeing four schools as his portal recruitment ramps up, a source told On3. The former Pitt transfer is scheduled to visit Cal in November. Kansas, SMU and Illinois round out his top four.
In four games this season, the Akron (Ohio) native tallied 9 tackles and a tackle for loss for the South Carolina defense. During the 2024 campaign, he has played a total of 70 snaps, including a season-high 30 in his last game with the Gamecocks against Ole Miss.
The Mustangs have been in the mix for Kamara since the jump, offering a scholarship to the EDGE days after he entered the portal. No official visits have been set outside his trip to Cal. Kansas has struggled this season, allowing 161 rushing yards per game. Kamara would be a key addition to the front seven for the Jayhawks.
Kamara arrived this offseason as a transfer to Columbia, having spent four seasons previously at Pittsburgh. During his time with the Panthers, the 6-foot-2, 229-pounder played in 48 games and accumulated 120 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and 5 sacks.
A college football player is allowed to play in four games while preserving their redshirt season. Kamara missed South Carolina’s game against Akron and did not redshirt during his time at Pitt. He did use his COVID-19 year of eligibility. He’s now on the open market and looking for a new home for the 2025 season.
