This week, Wisconsin and Stanford are preparing to play two basketball games in a unique location. They’ll square off on a baseball field — and the court is just about ready.

The teams will play at American Family Field, home of the Milwaukee Brewers, as part of the “Brew City Battle” on Friday. Two days before tip-off, the Brewers tweeted a time lapse video of crews putting the court together in the middle of the infield.

Wisconsin men’s and women’s basketball announced the games in June and said there will be return games coming, as well. Badgers men’s coach Greg Gard expressed his excitement at the time, saying the game as been a long time coming.

“Playing a game at American Family Field has been a vision for quite some time and I am so excited to see it become a reality,” Gard said in a statement, via ESPN.

The capacity of American Family Field sits at 41,900 and features a retractable roof which can protect the event in case of imminent weather. The city’s largest venue also hosts concerts and other events throughout the year in addition to Brewers games in the summer.

The ballpark has become known for its tailgating scene over the years and promises the create a special college basketball atmosphere in a city where the sport has taken off since the emergence of NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks 2021 NBA championship.

Wisconsin men’s basketball is coming off an impressive 2021-22 season, sharing the Big Ten regular season title with Illinois thanks to a 25-8 overall record and a 15-5 mark in conference play. The Badgers were a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament, where they fell to Iowa State in the Round of 32.
