Baylor picked up a big-time local commitment from Waco (Texas) University four-star wide receiver London Smith at the end of January. He remains pledged to the Bears, but the door is not closed when it comes to his recruitment.

Smith has a slew of elite offers, including from a majority of the SEC. On Wednesday, he announced via social media that he’s locked in an official visit to Kentucky:

The Wildcats offered Smith on Jan. 26, just three days before he committed to Baylor. He’s now set to make his way up to Lexington this summer and get a good look at the Wildcats. Smith’s Baylor official visit is set for the following weekend on June 20.

A playmaker at the high school level, Smith was limited to just six games in 2024 due to injury. He still hauled in 45 catches for 626 yards and five touchdowns. University High won seven games last fall competing in 5A Division-II. Across three seasons, Smith has acquired more than 2,100 receiving yards and 22 TDs.

Smith is the No. 259 overall prospect and No. 42 WR in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 33 player in Texas.

Smith is a key commit for the Bears

As of April 30, Baylor has seven commits in its 2026 class that ranks No. 27 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Smith is one of three blue-chippers on board to date.

All seven of Baylor’s commits hail from the Lone Star State. Smith was a key recruiting win for head coach Dave Aranda and Co., as he sits at the top of the class alongside four-star running back Ryelan Morris and four-star cornerback Jamarion Vincent, who’s also from Waco.

Meanwhile, Kentucky is off to a severely slow start on the 2026 recruiting trail. Head coach Mark Stoops and the Cats have just one pledge in the mix thus far in four-star offensive tackle Jarvis Strickland, a Chattanooga, Tenn. product who plays for Paducah Tilghman in Kentucky.

Last cycle, UK finished ahead of Baylor in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, inking the nation’s No. 28 class. In fact, Baylor hasn’t signed a higher-ranked class than Kentucky since the 2018 cycle.

Kentucky last signed a player from the state of Texas in the 2024 cycle via JUCO offensive tackle Anfernee Crease. Austin Akins three-star OT Nik Hall was the last high school recruit to sign, doing so in the 2022 cycle.
