Last year’s meeting between TCU and Baylor came down to the wire and was huge for the Horned Frogs, who went on to play for a national title.
TCU entered the game with a 10-0 record, while Baylor was 6-4. The two teams were tied at the half, before the Horned Frogs took a 20-14 lead into the fourth quarter. However, it didn’t last long.
Baylor stormed back to take a 28-20 lead early in the fourth quarter, and maintained its eight-point advantage until Emari Demercado scored on a 3-yard run with 2:08 remaining to cut the Baylor lead to 28-26.
TCU then got a stop and drove down the field to set up a game-winning 40-yard field goal by Griffin Kell as time expired.
TCU went on to beat Iowa State the following week, before falling to Kansas State in the Big 12 championship game. Still, the Horned Frogs earned a spot in the College Football Playoff. They upset Michigan in the semifinals, before being blasted by Georgia in the national championship game.
