Bethune-Cookman is expected to hire Raymond Woodie as head coach, a source tells On3.

Woodie, a Bethune-Cookman alum, has worked at places such as FAU, spent the last 13 seasons working under Willie Taggart at a combination of Western Kentucky, USF, Oregon, Florida State and FAU.

Woodie was Taggart’s associate head coach, recruiting coordinator, outside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator at FAU. He was Florida State’s linebackers coach in 2018 and ’19 and the special teams coordinator and outside linebackers under Taggart at Oregon.

Woodie played outside linebacker and safety at Bethune-Cookman from 1992 to ’95, earning All-American recognition each of his final two seasons. As a junior, he set a program record with 14.5 sacks.

Woodie will be the replacement for Ed Reed, who had been to be hired as Bethune-Cookman’s head coach before the deal fell through after Reed was publicly critical of the school in a social media post.

Bethune Cookman is coming two straight 2-9 years under former head coach Terry Sims, which came after posting seven wins in each of the previous three seasons.
