The Big 12 Tournament will feature two fascinating semifinals matchups Friday night, including an in-state rivalry game, in Kansas City, Mo. In both matchups, each team went 1-1 against the other during the regular season.

Lone Star State rivals TCU (21-11, 9-9) and Texas (24-8, 12-6) squared off in the second semifinal just over a week after the Horned Frogs upset the Longhorns in Fort Worth. TCU shot just 40.7% from the field, but went 3-for-6 from three-point distance to keep pace with the Longhorns. Thanks in large part to 12 points from Dylan Disu, Texas took the 34-26 lead into halftime despite an 1-for-7 showing from downtown.

The two teams traded blows in the second half as both offenses struggled. In the end, though, Texas did just enough to get the 66-60 win and advance to the conference title game. Disu wound up with 15 points, as did Christian Bishop after putting up 10 in the second half alone. Mike Miles Jr. led TCU with 15 points.

The Longhorns will face off against Kansas Saturday night in the Big 12 Championship Game. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT from Kansas City.

Kansas 71, Iowa State 58

The first game of the night saw No. 1 seed Kansas take on No. 5 seed Iowa State. The Jayhawks started out strong — thanks in large part to a hot hand from Jalen Wilson — and led by as many as nine points. Although the Cyclones pulled within four points in the final minutes, Kansas got back on track and took a 33-25 lead into the halftime locker room. Wilson led all scorers with 15 points through the first half.

The second half didn’t start of well for Kansas as Kevin McCullar left less than a minute in with back spasms. But the Jayhawks still played well without their star guard en route to the 70-58 victory. Wilson finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds while Gradey Dick added 15 points, including 13 in the second half.
