Big Ten hands out 2023 All-Conference honors, names Purdue's Zach Edey player of the year
The Big Ten has announced its all-conference teams and individual awards ahead of this week’s conference tournament. The announcement came one day before the start of the conference tournament.
Purdue big man Zach Edey was named Big Ten Player of the Year after putting up huge numbers during the regular season, averaging 21.8 points and 12.9 rebounds per game to help Purdue to the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. He was also a unanimous first team All-Big Ten selection by both the coaches and media, as was Indiana forward Trayce Jackson-Davis.
Northwestern will be the No. 2 seed and the Wildcats received some big-time recognition, headlined by a Coach of the Year award for Chris Collins. Star guard Chase Audige also shared Defensive Player of the Year with Rutgers guard Caleb McConnell.
