Well, we already have a delay for the start of the 2024 Big Ten Baseball Tournament as the conference announced that first pitch between Indiana and Purdue has been moved back to 1:00 p.m. CT (2:00 p.m. ET).
Here was the tweet from the official Big Ten Baseball account alerting fans of the sour news: “Tournament Update: The start of Game 1 between Indiana and Purdue has been delayed until 1pm CT.”
One person on Twitter screen-grabbed a snapchat from someone at the historic Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska (site of the 2024 Big Ten tourney) which showed the dugouts looking more like swimming pools. Check it out:
That photo certainly doesn’t bode well for Big Ten fans hoping to see a full slate of baseball on this Tuesday afternoon. Indiana and Purdue were actually supposed to begin their game bright and early at 10:00 a.m. local central time. Obviously, the storms pushed that start time back, and now, the first game of the Big Ten Tournament has been delayed even further, now throwing a wrench into the entire day of games and possibly altering the whole week’s schedule.
Somehow, some way, we will get these baseball games completed. It just might take an unusual schedule. Below you can see the full bracket and original schedule:
