We already know that Oregon has clinched a spot in the Big Ten Championship game, but the Ducks are still waiting to find out who their opponent will be. There are still three teams with a chance to compete against them: Indiana, Ohio State and Penn State.

All three teams have one loss in conference play now after the Buckeyes beat the Hoosiers by a score of 38-15 on Saturday. Ohio State also has a win against the Nittany Lions as well, giving it the head-to-head tiebreaker against both teams.

With that being the case, the Buckeyes simply need to win their game against Michigan next week to secure their spot. If they lose, it would open the door for the other two teams depending on their results. You can view the full Big Team Championship scenarios below.

  • Ohio State: Needs a win next week vs. Michigan OR Indiana, Penn State to lose
  • Indiana: Needs a win AND Ohio State, Penn State to lose
  • Penn State: Needs a win AND Ohio State to lose vs. Michigan

Ohio State clearly has the easiest path, but we know anything can happen in a rivalry game. The Buckeyes have lost the previous three contests against Michigan and missed the conference title game each year as a result.

However, this year Ohio State clearly looks like the better team as the Wolverines enter the game with a record of just 6-5 coming off of their national championship season. A win would give them their first appearance in the Big Ten Championship since 2020.

Indiana and Penn State will hope that chaos plays out, however. The Hoosiers were undefeated before losing to the Buckeyes this past week and have a game against their rival, Purdue, to close the regular season. They not only need Ohio State to lose to Michigan, but also for the Nittany Lions to fall against Maryland.

We’ll wait to see what happens, but right now the most likely result is an Ohio State vs. Oregon title game.
