Big Ten releases Week 1 awards headlined by Miller Moss, Dylan Raiola
Week 1 is in the books and the Big Ten has a lot to celebrate. The 18 schools in the prestigious conference posted a combined 17-1 record. Minnesota was the only team that lost in Week 1, suffering a nail-biting 19-17 loss to North Carolina.
Although there were numerous entertaining matchups, USC was the only team that competed in a ranked matchup. On Monday, the Trojans downed No. 13 LSU in 27-20 fashion. In short, the Big Ten had no shortage of players to choose from for its Week 1 honors. Alas, here are the Big Ten Players of the Week.

In the Trojans’ win over LSU, Moss completed 75% of his pass attempts for 378 yards and a touchdown without throwing an interception. The win was only Moss’ second start at quarterback, with his first coming last season in USC’s bowl win over Louisville.
On the other side of the ball, safety Kevin Winston Jr. turned heads in Penn State’s dominant 34-12 win over West Virginia. In the win, Winston amassed a team-high 12 tackles, including seven solo takedowns.
Of course, the Big Ten didn’t forget about its special teams standouts, either. In UCLA’s narrow 16-13 win over Hawaii, Mateen Bhaghani went 3-3 on field-goal attempts, scoring over half of the Bruins’ points.

Meanwhile, Michigan’s Dominic Zvada made all three of his attempted field goals in Michigan’s 30-10 win over Fresno State. Lastly, Nebraska freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola made waves in his collegiate debut, boosting the Cornhuskers to a comfortable 40-7 win over UTEP.
In the triumph, Raiola completed 19-of-his-27 pass attempts for 238 yards and two touchdowns. He did not throw an interception. With another slate of excellent games this weekend, other Big Ten players will have a chance to earn a Player of the Week award.
To name a few, Michigan will go head-to-head against No. 4 Texas, the Hawkeyes will host in-state rival Iowa State and Nebraska will look to exact revenge on Colorado. Simply put, Big Ten fans are in for a treat in Week 2.
