The Big Ten revealed on Wednesday that the Big Ten Championship Game will remain in Indianapolis through 2024. In a press release, the conference made the announcement that the showdown will stay at Lucas Oil Stadium, which has hosted the event since the inaugural iteration in 2011.

“Big Ten Football Championship Game to remain in Indianapolis through 2024,” wrote the Big Ten. “The Big Ten Conference announced today that the Big Ten Football Championship Game will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis through 2024.”

Additionally, the conference added that the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota will be the host of the 2023 Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament, as well as the 2024 Big Ten Women’s and Men’s Basketball Tournaments.

Since Indianapolis began hosting the Big Ten Football Championship Game, Ohio State has dominated the event. The Buckeyes have captured five Big Ten trophies at the event, including four consecutive championships from 2017-2020.

After Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan State have won two a piece. Penn State and Michigan have also captured a Big Ten Championship in Indianapolis, with the Wolverines the victors of last season’s iteration.

Both Northwestern and Iowa have made the event twice, but were unsuccessful in their attempts for glory. Alas, the programs will have at least a couple more chances at victory in Indianapolis, as the event will remain there through 2024.

Moreover, the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament will take place at the Target Center in 2024, marking the first time the event will take place in Minnesota. The event has took place at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis last season, and will take place at the United Center in Chicago in 2023.

Outside of the Indianapolis and Chicago, the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament has been hosted at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. (2017), Madison Square Garden in New York City (2018) and the aforementioned Lucas Oil Stadium (2021). As you can see, the Target Center being chosen to host the event is a huge deal.
