2023 Big Ten Basketball Tournament: Updated projected seeds, schedule, magic numbers

The Big Ten basketball tournament has a clearer picture with a little more than a week to go in the schedule. The latest projected seeds, schedule and magic numbers are available as teams fight for positioning in the conference tournament.

Let’s dive into the standings and probabilities for teams who are in position for the top seed in the Big Ten, via PlayoffStatus.com.

Purdue has an 84% chance to grab the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten. But there are only two teams relatively alive for the same spot. Northwestern has a 13% chance while Indiana has a 3% chance.

Only Purdue controls its own destiny for the top seed in the Big Ten. The Boilermakers’ magic number to clinch the top spot is down to three.

As far as the bottom five teams in the conference, their highest probability of finish might surprise you. Minnesota can finish as high as No. 12, the same goes for Ohio State. Nebraska can finish as high as No. 4 while Penn State and Wisconsin could actually finish as high as No. 2.
