Notre Dame offensive lineman Billy Schrauth has been ruled out for the remainder of Saturday’s game against Purdue. He left in the first quarter and headed back to the locker room.

CBS’ Jenny Dell reported Schrauth underwent testing in the locker room and returned to the sidelines on crutches. Notre Dame will now turn to Rocco Spindler at right guard for the remainder of the game, according to the depth chart.

“Just an update on Notre Dame right guard Billy Schrauth, who got rolled up on in that first quarter by his teammate,” Dell said on the broadcast. “He just spent about 10 minutes in the locker room getting x-rays. He came out, crutches, pads off, boot on his right leg and he’s officially out for this game, guys.”

Notre Dame is dealing with a slew of injuries on the offensive line. Perhaps most notably, Charles Jagusah suffered a season-ending injury during training camp, which means Anthonie Knapp is taking over at left tackle.

As if Schrauth’s injury wasn’t enough, the Fighting Irish also saw starting center Ashton Craig leave with a leg injury. He was also ruled out, along with defensive lineman Jordan Botelho, who left on a cart with a leg injury of his own.

“With eight minutes left, Notre Dame d-lineman Jordan Botelho was carted off the field with an apparent right leg injury. His teammates came up to give him some love. He has been ruled out for the game,” Dell reported in the second quarter. “Just a minute later, their center, Ashton Craig, went down with a left leg injury. He was helped off the field straight into the injury tent. Just walked into the locker room, guys. He is out, as well.”

Notre Dame’s offense was firing on all cylinders in the first half of the Battle for the Shillelagh Trophy against Purdue. The Fighting Irish took a 42-0 lead into the break, led by a strong running game. Riley Leonard totaled three rushing touchdowns to go with 100 yards on the ground. Jeremiyah Love also looked impressive with 94 yards and a touchdown, while Jadarian Price took a 70-yard rushing score.

Notre Dame then turned to Steve Angeli at quarterback given the sizeable lead, and he quickly made his presence felt. He found Cooper Flanagan for the Fighting Irish’s first passing touchdown of the year on a 28-yard pass, which also made it a 49-0 advantage to start the third quarter at Ross-Ade Stadium.
