Bo Bassett eliminates three schools in latest wrestling recruiting update, in-home visits to begin in August
Bo Bassett eliminated three more schools in his latest wrestling recruiting update. The No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2026 cut down from seven to three in his weekly updates, as he announced July 24.
With this latest update, Bassett revealed his focus and preparation for the World Championships. In-home visits begin in August, which should ramp up the recruiting process.
Navy, Michigan State and Cal Baptist did not appear on this week’s graphic.
“August is going to be a pretty crazy month for my family and I,” Bassett revealed in his newsletter. “Obviously, August 1 is the official first day when college coaches can make home visits so that is exciting. My number one focus right now is the World Championships. All the coaches understand 100%. Then in September my focus moves to WNO and I will get a few official home visits & college visits in.
“Then October is Super 32! Such an exciting time! It’s World Championship season! Melvin and our dad fly out after our training camp in Colorado Springs at the Olympic Training Center on August 19th. Then my dad returns and him & I head to Spain for my Worlds.”

Bassett is set to represent Team USA at the U20 World Championships in Spain in September following a Gold Medal at Pan Ams earlier this month. Ranked No. 1 at 144 pounds in the high school rankings, Bassett is seen as a generational prospect.
Bassett was also a 2024 Pennsylvania State Champion as a sophomore.
On a edition of Baschamania this summer, Bassett opened up on what he looked forward to in the recruiting process. One thing’s for sure, he’ll take his time.
“I’m extremely excited. It’s gonna be fun,” Bassett said prior to when coaches could officially call him. “That post that I put out, I just kind of want to make the point that everyone’s in the (running) and I’m not really slotted in anywhere, I don’t prefer any other schools over anyone else and I’m really excited to be open as far as recruiting.
“I’m excited to go see where I best fit and I think that there’s a lot of different factors that I’m looking into but I think it’s just where I can be the most successful and get the you know, the most out of it. Going to take my visits, I’m not going to commit on day one or probably within the first month to six months. I think that it’s one of those things that I’m going to take my time and really make the right decision, but you only get that decision once. And I’m a pretty loyal guy so I don’t really see myself transferring out ever. So I think wherever I go, that’s where I’m going to be for four maybe (five) years … so really excited for this process.”
