Bo Bassett recruiting update: No. 1 wrestling prospect recaps recent visits, trims to 14 schools
Bo Bassett is back to his wrestling recruiting updates following recent visits to Iowa and Penn State and trimmed his list to 14 schools.
He’s the most sought after recruit in the class and is certainly taking his time. Heck, it’s been a few weeks since his last update.
You can see Bassett’s updated graphic below.
Princeton was eliminated from Bassett’s list this week.
Bassett’s remaining schools are: Virginia Tech, Cornell, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Iowa State, Pitt-Johnstown, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Northern Iowa, Missouri.
And as a reminder, here is the schedule of visits for Bassett:
Oct 25-27: Iowa (Completed)
Nov 1-3: Penn State (Completed)
Nov 8-10: Ohio State
Nov 15-17: Virginia Tech
Nov 22-24: Oklahoma State
Jan 24-26: Rutgers
“I will be continuing to do my graphic and eliminating schools each week,” Bassett wrote in his newsletter. “I stopped for a while and got hundreds of messages asking if I would continue it. People enjoyed learning about each visit and the little things. Then like anything in life, you get the few people who don’t like it because its different and not normal. I always like to do things a little different and most importantly have fun with things.

“I worked my whole life in wrestling and going to enjoy this process. I know, when I was young, I would have loved to follow Spencer Lee or Zain Retherford recruiting process. So unfortunately this week I had to take Princeton off the list. They are a great program with a top notch coaching staff. I really enjoyed talking to Coach Dubuque, Anthony Ashnault, Nate Jackson and Cody Brewer. They also got Reece Humphrey too as their RTC coach. I wish them the best and luck on the season.”
Bassett also recapped his visit to Penn State, which played Ohio State in football this past weekend.
“Last weekend I went to State College on my official visit to PSU,” Bassett wrote. “Again this weekend, I was with two other teammates, Jax and Sam Herring. Having those guys around made the trip even better. We all had an awesome trip and got to really get to know the coaches and squad. I had the opportunity to scrap with Zain Retherford and that is always amazing.
“When Zain was preparing for Olympics, he would request me as his workout partners so I have wrestled with Zain a lot and it is always great. He is a wealth of knowledge and is always helping me. We got to watch a PSU Practice and watch how they prepare. They went really hard and got after it. Beau Bartlett was my host and I got to hang out with him a lot.
Bassett mentioned Penn State “checked all the boxes.”
