Bo Bassett gave another wrestling recruiting update Thursday following his visit at Virginia Tech and trimmed his list down to 12 schools.

We’re getting closer to single digits in terms of schools, so Bassett is inching closer to a decision. The top junior in the country is in the middle of an unprecedented recruitment in the new age of college athletics.

He was pretty excited about the Hokies though.

“I was really shocked and blown away by the fans at VT,” Bassett said in his newsletter. “Their student section was great and they had so many young wrestlers there watching. They really seemed to love wrestling and the match was very good …

“Their coaches are very Passionate and driven to be great. All the coaches are proven and have done great things. Coach Frayer has a proven track record with 149-pounders. Coach Tanelli was a head coach and now they are blessed to have him as an assistant. Coach Haught is a great human and it was great to talk to him. Coach Robie has done a great job building the program into one of the top ten every year.”

With that, Bassett announced he eliminated Missouri from contention.

“So unfortunately this week I had to take Missouri off the list,” Bassett said. “They are a great program with a top-notch coaching staff. I really enjoyed talking to Coach Maple. He is a great coach and an even better person. I won’t forget some of our talks and conversations. I also got to hang out with Coach Bradley in Peru this summer. Thanks to Coach Smith for coming in for a home visit. I definitely know they got great things going on and love their Tiger Style mindset. I wish them the best and luck on the season.”
