Bo Bassett revealed the latest wrestling recruiting update, trimming his list down to 18 schools. The U20 World Bronze Medalist said he would eliminate one per week once he got to his top 20.

“What a week,” Bassett wrote in his newsletter. “I finally started my home visits and they were amazing. I want to take my time and get to learn as much as I can about the programs, their coaching staff, support staff, education majors, traditions, visions, culture, RTC, etc.”

Bassett was more open about his process this week, which is surely getting tougher.

“When it’s all said and done, I want to know I made the right choice for my future and don’t ever have to second guess,” Bassett said. “Some wrestlers only look at a few schools and that’s all they need to make a good choice. I like to learn as much as I can about the programs I think could be a great fit for myself and maybe my brothers.

“What I found is most of the top programs have everything you could ever imagine to be great at wrestling, they all have passionate staffs, all have very similar visions & goals, unreal resources and support staffs in place, and all seem to really care about their wrestlers. These visits were supposed to make picking a school easier and might have made it even harder.”

Bassett’s current list can be seen below.

This week, Stanford was eliminated from Bassett’s list.

Virginia Tech
Cornell
Michigan
Ohio State
Lehigh
Penn State
Air Force
Rutgers
Iowa State
Pitt-Johnstown
Princeton
Iowa
Pittsburgh
Nebraska
Oklahoma State
Arizona State
Northern Iowa
Missouri

“Some wrestlers don’t like this process, but I can honestly say I am really enjoying it,” Bassett said in his newsletter Wednesday. “My view is, I only get to do the recruiting process once, so I am going to enjoy it and have fun with it. I sometimes like to do things different and hope everyone likes these updates.

“When I was in elementary school, I would have done anything to follow along with Spencer Lee, Jason Nolf or Zain Retherford recruiting process.”
