Boo Corrigan explains how conference title, head-to-head stack up vs number of losses for LSU
The LSU Tigers have forced their way into the College Football Playoff picture after an overtime win over Alabama last week, making them one of the most interesting storylines in the new rankings ahead of Week 11. After the reveal, CFP Selection Committee chairman Boo Corrigan spoke with ESPN’s Rece Davis about what he has seen in college football.
Boo Corrigan and the CFP Selection Committee have a big task when placing LSU in the rankings, as the SEC West leader would represent a first for the playoff if they moved into the top four. No two-loss team has made the playoff field to this point, raising a question on what matters more: accomplishments or record.

“Well, as you know, conference championships, head-to-head competition are all part of it,” said Corrigan. “They’ve got that early-season loss to Florida State, the other loss to (Tennessee). They’ve come back strong since then. What an incredible game on Saturday night down at LSU that they were able to win – go for two, and get that win. And as we look at it, we’ll continue to evaluate”
LSU has clearly made a good impression on the CFP Selection Committee so far, but has a long way to go in earning a spot from the No. 7 spot. However, if they are able to advance to the SEC championship game against, presumably, Georgia, it would provide them a unique opportunity to build an undeniable resume.
