Boogie Fland is the No. 7 ranked player in the recent 2024 On3 150 update. The 6-foot-3 point guard averaged 18.1 points and 3.7 assists with 62 made threes this season with White Plains (NU) Archbishop Stepinac. He was named first-team all-state.

“I’ve been trying to think the game more, get stronger,” Fland told On3. “I’ve been working a lot on the little things, impacting the way more than just scoring; making sure I lead my team, get everyone involved.”

On3 caught up with Boogie Fland after a recent live viewing to get an update on his recruitment.

Fland talks visits

“I’ve taken official visits to UNC and Michigan so far,” Fland said.

Michigan: “I got a great feel for the environment and the campus. Everyone around was nice people. The staff is great; they’ve let me know they want me there. They play a pick-and-roll offense, spread the ball around.”

UNC: “The chemistry on the team was noticeable for me on the visit. The coaching staff was also really cool. They’re a winning program, and they get their players better. I talk with RJ (Davis), and you see what he’s doing down there. He played at Archbishop Stepinac, too. He’s biased and all, but he’s telling me he thinks it is a good fit. But in the end, he’s telling me just to do what is best for me.”

Fland talks recruitment

I’ve got an official visit coming up to Indiana,” Fland said. “I’m visiting Kentucky officially in September. I’m also trying to go see Alabama, Oregon, UConn, and maybe a couple of others too.”

Indiana: “They’re a winning program. You saw what they did this year with Jalen Hood-Schifino. He was a freshman and had a huge impact on the program. They got him in and developed him. I mean, he’s about to be a first-round draft pick. They check in with me every day to see how things are going. And not just on the basketball side; they care about me as a person.”

Kentucky: “They got the No. 1 class this year, all those five-stars coming in. I’m pretty sure they’re going to develop them, and they’re going to win. They say they like that I’m unselfish and how I play within the team. They say they like how I lead, and they think I can come in and lead their program. You know what you’re going to get from me, and I know who to play with other special talents and let everyone eat.”

Alabama: “Brandon Miller and Noah Clowney are projected first-rounders right now. I mean, they went to Alabama, and they raised their stock from the beginning of the season to the end of the season. You can see the impact they have on their players, even in a short time. And they win. They went to the Sweet Sixteen this year in the NCAA Tournament.”

Oregon: “It’s different. They are a different program; it’s away from home. I love the coach, and I love the staff out there. They’re also a winning program. They also got Nike out there.”

UConn: “They’re national champions; I mean, it’s that simple. They lock in with their players.”

In his words

“I don’t know when I’m going to commit yet,” Boogie Fland said. “When I feel like it’s right, I’ll do it; not sure if that will be early or late, though.

“The feel I get with the program when I’m on the visit will play a big role. The fit within their system and the coaching staff will play a big role for me. I’m going to be running someone’s team, so I want to have a good understanding with them, a trust. I don’t want to be blindsided with anything.
