Boston College guard Chas Kelley enters NCAA transfer portal

Boston College guard Chas Kelley has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s James Fletcher confirms. He’s spent all three years of his college basketball career playing for the Eagles.
Kelley has steadily increased his production in each of his three seasons played at BC. This past season he logged career highs in points (4.4) and assists (2.0). In total, he logged 88 appearances for the Eagles, making 22 starts across a 16.4 minute-per-game average.
In 2024, he played in all 31 games for the Eagles. 15 of those were starts. His most impressive performance of the season came against Stonehill during non-conference play in December. Kelley scored 12 points in that matchup — one of two times he scored in double figures this past season.
Boston College finished the season near the bottom of the ACC with a 4-16 record, leading only Miami (3-17, ACC). At 12-19 overall, the Eagles were not invited to the conference tournament and ended their season losing its last four games.
As of Wednesday, March 26, over 1,250 Men’s College Basketball players have entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. That number is expected to grow as the 2024-25 college basketball season nears its end.

Earl Grant returning as Boston College head coach in 2025-26
Per Jon Rothstein this morning on Twitter, Grant will remain the head coach at Boston College. That’s according to Blake James, the athletic director in Chestnut Hill.
“Boston College AD Blake James tells me that Earl Grant will return as head coach next season,” Rothstein tweeted on Friday.
Grant has been with Boston College since 2021-2022 and, in that time, has posted a record of 61-71 (.462), including 27-52 (.342) against the ACC. Boston College has not finished in the Top 10 in the league in that time and has not made the NCAA Tournament as the Golden Eagles haven’t earned a berth into the field since 2009.
Boston College was coming off of its best finish under Grant last year at 20-16 overall and their second-best finish in the conference under him at 8-12. However, they’ve followed that up with another losing record at 12-19 (4-16).
