Missouri and Oklahoma have spent plenty of time together as conference foes but Saturday’s matchup will be a first. After battling in the Big 8 and Big 12, they will now face off as members of the SEC. Columbia will be the site of the renewal, the first game between the Tigers and Sooners since 2011 when Gary Pinkel and Bob Stoops were running the programs.

This game was one circled on the calendar by both teams when the schedule came out. Some crossover between them has taken place, specifically on Missouri’s side with wide receiver Theo Wease and offensive lineman Cayden Green. Both are former Sooners. A few head-to-head recruiting battles have sparked some energy into the fan bases as well.

Neither Eli Drinkwitz nor Brent Venables are having the seasons they imagined. However, getting a win Saturday would go a long way in what could become an under-the-radar rivalry in the SEC moving forward.
