Brady Cook injury report: Missouri QB removed from injury report vs. Mississippi State
With just two games remaining in the 2024 regular season, every game matters — especially for seniors like Missouri quarterback Brady Cook.
Cook’s definitive status for Saturday’s road game at Mississippi State was revealed with the Friday release of the SEC’s daily injury report for intra-conference games. Nagging injuries to his hand/wrist and ankle forced Cook to sit out against Oklahoma two weeks ago. But after not practicing much last week, Cook made a triumphant return and played in a 34-30 loss at South Carolina last Saturday, throging for 237 yards on 21-of-31 passing.
Cook received a “probable” designation in Thursday’s SEC injury report, which should be a good sign for his status against the Bulldogs, who will be without their own veteran QB with senior Blake Shapen long ruled out with a season-ending shoulder injury suffered against Florida.

It’s also the first meeting between the two since 2020, when the Bulldogs bested the visiting Tigers 51-32 also in Starkville. Mississippi State has won the last two games after Missouri took the first two games back in 1981 and 1984.
The injury bug has certainly bitten the Bulldogs hard this season. Highlighted by Shapen — the former Baylor transfer — Mississippi State has already ruled out eight different players for Saturday, including two wide receivers, a running back, and an offensive lineman. It’s been a test of depth and that will continue through the end of the season.
It’s been a difficult first season in Starkville for head coach Jeff Lebby. The Bulldogs are just 2-8 overall and 0-6 in SEC play. And it doesn’t get any easier with Missouri coming to town before the Egg Bowl on Black Friday next week.
Kickoff is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. EST Saturday in Starkville.
