Missouri traveling to Tuscaloosa for a showdown against Alabama is one of three ranked SEC matchups to take place on Saturday. Not a game we saw a lot during the conference’s old scheduling model, this has been one circled on the calendar for a while. Neither team might have their desired record from the preseason, but plenty is still at stake.

Alabama is fresh off a loss to Tennessee, a crushing one from Neyland Stadium. Missouri experienced the opposite emotion, coming from behind to win against Auburn — a homecoming game they will remember. The two program’s have now refocused and all attention is on beating each other.

A few days away from kickoff, there are some injuries the two squads are dealing with. Multiple names have popped up on the Wednesday injury report for both teams. It’s the initial report revealed for the week, with three more coming before the action gets underway from Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Eli Drinkwitz not letting injuries be an excuse for Missouri

As you can see from the report, Missouri has a list of players going through injury problems. A few of them are key contributors for the Tigers as well. Getting deeper into the depth chart can be difficult for a lot of teams, especially when facing a team like Alabama.

Even so, head coach Eli Drinkwitz is not going to allow injuries to be an excuse for the game. He believes the job of coaches is to get available players ready to play the game before going out there and performing at a high level. Goals remain the same despite potentially being without a few guys.

“It is what it is,” Drinkwtiz said Tuesday on The Paul Finebaum Show. “The word doesn’t measure excuses, they measure performance. The Tigers are going to take on the Tide down in Tuscaloosa. We’re responsible for putting a football team on the field that can execute. We’re not going to make any excuses about it. We’re going to go down there as a football team and we’re going to play to win. That’s our approach.”
