It’s down to Texas A&M and Oregon for Spring Valley (Calif.) Mount Miguel five-star Brandon Arrington, the No. 1 cornerback in the 2026 cycle. His commitment will come sooner than expected, too.

The 6-foot-2.5, 180-pounder told On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he’ll now choose between the Aggies and the Ducks this Thursday, June 19. Arrington originally scheduled his decision for July 5.

Penn State, Alabama, Washington and USC were the other top contenders in Arrington’s recruitment heading into the summer. The speedy corner still had other official visits previously scheduled, but he’s now entered decision mode.

Arrington is the No. 9 overall prospect in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. In addition to being the top-ranked cornerback this cycle, Arrington is also the No. 1 recruit in California.

Texas A&M continues to trend for Arrington

The Aggies really began to pick up steam last fall and have been the team trending for Arrington in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine since October. He previously set an official visit with the Aggies for this coming weekend.

Head coach Mike Elko and the A&M staff have prioritized Arrington for a long time. They’ll look to close and land his pledge this week.

“It is the people at A&M,” Arrington previously told On3’s Chad Simmons. “They all want me and they recruit me hard. From the start, it never changed with A&M. They recruited me the same, they built relationships and how consistent they have been stands out.”

The 2025 cycle saw A&M sign three of the top 10 prospects in California, including blue-chip cornerback Adonyss Currie. The Aggies’ 2026 class currently features three Golden State commits: four-star wide receiver Madden Williams, four-star EDGE Samu Moala and four-star tight end Caleb Tafua.

Relationships have Oregon in the final two

Dan Lanning and the Ducks are chasing another elite recruiting class in Eugene and Arrington is one of the many five-stars giving the Big Ten program a hard look. He shuffled his official visit scheduled and took his Oregon OV on the weekend of June 6.

“Everything was good,” Arrington’s father told On3’s Steve Wiltfong about the trip. “Great environment, great coaches. Just the coaching, experience they got, defensive guys they got, the plan and all that. They came from Georgia and Alabama so you know they have that defensive pedigree.”

It’s been a constant push from Lanning, defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi and the Ducks down the stretch. They’ve made Arrington feel wanted in Eugene and he’s built some sturdy bonds with the staff throughout his process.

The Ducks are after some momentum on the trail this summer and beating Texas A&M for the West Coast corner this week would be monumental.

“With Oregon, it is about the relationships I have with coach Hampton and coach Tosh,” Arrington previously told Simmons. “We are close and I am so cool with coach Hampton. Coach Lanning always checks up on me and that bond I have with the staff is so good.”
