Five-Star Plus+ SG Brayden Burries to announce commitment tomorrow

One of the nation’s top uncommitted prospects is set to come off the board this week.
Riverside (Calif.) Roosevelt Five-Star Plus+ shooting guard Brayden Burries has narrowed his list of top schools down to five. On Wednesday morning, he’ll announce his decision, choosing between Alabama, Arizona, Oregon, Tennessee and USC.
Burries confirmed his decision date on Monday evening:
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently favors Arizona. Head coach Tommy Lloyd and the Wildcats recently landed a commitment from Five-Star Plus+ power forward Koa Peat and could be on the verge of inking the No. 1 class in the 2025 cycle.
Burries, a McDonald’s All-American and Gatorade National Boys Player of the Year finalist, averaged 29.7 points per game as a senior en route to a state title. He reached 40 five times and broke the 50 mark once, but arguably his most impressive showing was a 44-point outburst in the California Open Division state championship. In addition to his scoring prowess, he added 8.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.9 steals per contest.

“My goal is to get to the NBA and stay there,” Burries told On3 in January. “For a college, I want to have a great relationship with the head coach and I’m going to look at the play style. Make sure how they play fits me and that the coach is going to let me play through mistakes. I’m comfortable playing up and down, at a fast pace with lots of pick and rolls. I mostly want to play on ball in college, but I can come off ball screens, pin downs, and do that as well.”
He is the No. 10 overall prospect and No. 2 SG in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The 6-foot-5 guard is also the No. 2 player in California.
Scout’s take on Brayden Burries
On3 senior recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw writes this of Burries as a prospect:
“Immediately with Brayden Burries you notices the frame. He has long arms, positional size, and wide-set shoulders that shows a projectable frame as he continues forward. Burries plays with a good pace, never rushed, and is comfortable on the ball in the half court. While he is not a dynamic paint-touch type, he can get the ball to various spots on the floor. He is an average to solid athlete, but he has good feel on both ends of the court. The jump shot is smooth and he is confident I’m off the bounce or the catch with his feet set. Good balance and a consistent follow through. He is older for his grade. The athleticism could be a question long term. He has a high floor as a prospect with a solid game that can fit comfortably as a secondary on ball or off ball at the next level.”
