The College Football Playoff Selection Committee revealed its updated rankings after Week 10 concluded, slotting the top six contenders for the four-team CFP field along with the top contenders to land New Year’s Day bids without many surprises up top.

As the season heats up and CFP discussions begin, the top six teams in the picture remain Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon and Washington.

The debate will continue for each of the top six teams, although consistent results leave the order untouched this week. Talk continues to circle Michigan as potential Big Ten punishment is discussed and the NCAA investigation continues, but for how they remain in the picture.

Take a look at what we have seen from each playoff contender, and what is up next.

Ohio State (9-0)

The Ohio State defense continues to play well this season, and playmakers like Marvin Harrison Jr. and TreVeyon Henderson make the Buckeyes potent on offense. A road win against Rutgers will not do anything to boost their resume but provided another tune-up entering the final stretch of games before the playoff.

Georgia (9-0)

Georgia shut down the talk of potential SEC East upset bids over the past two weeks, knocking off Florida and Missouri to pull closer to another conference title shot. Upcoming games against Ole Miss and Tennessee give them a chance to not only lock up that chance, but also give the CFP committee a reminder of their dominance.

Stories about continued investigations and talks with the Big Ten might rule the day, but Michigan continues to roll over the competition on Saturdays. A road test against Penn State provides the biggest threat of the season so far as the Wolverines try to maintain focus amid the noise.

Florida State (9-0)

Florida State faces an in-state rival in the final ACC test before a potential conference championship game next month. After picking up big wins early this season, the Seminoles resume relies – in part – on the late-season performances of teams like LSU and Clemson. However, undefeated is undefeated, and it will be hard to knock them out of the CFP picture if that continues.

Washington (9-0)

After handing USC another loss and sparking change for the Trojans this week, Washington continues its brutal trek through the Pac-12 schedule with Utah. The contrasting styles will force the Huskies to showcase another element of their game as debate rages about their resume compared to Oregon.

Oregon prepares to face USC in what many believed could help determine the Pac-12 standings this season, but instead comes amid a three-game losing streak for the Trojans. Dan Lanning and his team have continued to build hype surrounding their talent despite a head-to-head loss against Washington but needs to keep winning for a shot at the Pac-12 title and CFP berth.
