Breaking down College Football Playoff Selection Committee’s Top 6 teams after Week 11
The College Football Playoff Selection Committee revealed its latest rankings after Week 11 games finished, slotting the top six contenders for the four-team CFP field along with the top contenders to land New Year’s Day bids with some intriguing debate up top.
As the season nears the finish and CFP discussions heat up, the top six teams in the picture remain Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon and Washington.
The debate will continue for each of the top six teams – as well as the remaining one-loss teams – about which deserves the advantage based on a number of factors. The committee has shown a commitment to the resume, but drawn criticism for different places within the rankings where the eye-test or other methods seem to be favored.

Georgia (10-0)
Georgia has built up its resume over the past two weeks with big wins over Top 25 competition in the SEC East, securing their spot in the conference championship game against Alabama along the way.
The Bulldogs take over the top spot and have enough chances left on the schedule to hold the No. 1 spot if they can take care of business.
Remaining schedule: at Tennessee, at Georgia Tech, Alabama (SEC Championship)
Ohio State (8-0)
Ohio State has utilized its improved defense throughout the season and has found a balanced attack which features Heisman contender Marvin Harrison Jr. on offense.
Debate has continued over the order atop of CFP rankings between the Buckeyes and Georgia, which will continue as both face late-season challenges.
Remaining schedule: Minnesota, at Michigan
Michigan (10-0)
Stories about continued investigations and talks with the Big Ten might rule the day, but Michigan continues to roll over the competition on Saturdays.

Washington continues to roll through the Pac-12 schedule and score points.
The high-powered offense has passed every test so far, and the Huskies appears out of the mid-season slump which created conversation in the initial playoff rankings.

Oregon (9-1)
Oregon sparked more debate over the first several weeks of College Football Playoff rankings reveals than any other team, first lining their resume up against the undefeateds as the top one-loss team, then in a debate over the overall resume vs. other one-loss teams like Texas and Alabama.
A rivalry game against Oregon State will certainly help build the resume as they hope to see teams above drop games.
