BREAKING: Rising OT Naquil Betrand commits to Texas A&M
Texas A&M has landed their tenth commit in the 2023 class in Philadelphia (Penn.) Northeast three-star offensive tackle Naquil Betrand, a massive 6-foot-6, 320 pound tackle prospect with intriguing potential. The rising senior picked the Aggies over Kentucky, Auburn, Georgia, Penn State and Syracuse.
Betrand announced his commitment one week after visiting Texas A&M for the Aggies’ pool party event. The rising senior visited College Station twice in recent months and just got a different feeling in Aggieland.
“I went down there and it straight felt like home,” he said. “It was a vibe, it just feels right down there.”
He added.
“The coaches, that’s genuine,” he said, as to why Texas A&M was his choice. “The environment, the staff, the program that’s being built that’ll get me to where I want to be at, my family liking it down there, everything.”
Philadelphia is a long way from College Station, but Betrand’s relationship with Texas A&M’s staff, most notably defensive line coach Elijah Robinson, a Northeast native himself, and the care the staff showed him made him feel comfortable playing college football so far from home.
“They really care about you and actually know their guys,” he said. “Some of the guys down there, they tell me how it is, the way the coaches treat them for real and it shows that they really genuinely care. I respect that a lot.”
Though Betrand went public with his decision on Saturday, he actually gave a silent commitment to the staff while in town for the pool party

“They were hype,” he said of the staff’s reaction to his commitment. “Just excited for me.”
Betrand was equally excited to make his decision public and is looking forward to showing Texas A&M fans
“Y’all are going to get a dog,” he said. “I’m coming in to work. My first day there till my last day there, I’m going to give the Aggie fans my heart. They’re going to get a great player, I promise.”
With the addition of Betrand, Texas A&M now holds ten commits in the 2023 class, including three offensive linemen in Ramsey (N.J) Don Bosco Prep four-star offensive lineman Chase Bisontis, Spring Branch (Tex.) Smithson Valley four-star Colton Thomasson and now, the rising senior from Philadelphia.
Betrand ranks as the No. 893 prospect and the No. 53 offensive tackle in the country per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The three-star has an On3 NIL Valuation of $5.1K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
