Brett Yormark takes dig at Texas, Oklahoma with Big 12 travel plan

New Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark entered the picture nearly one year after Texas and Oklahoma announced their plan to leave the conference in favor of the SEC at the conclusion of the current contractual obligation. As a reaction, the Big 12 also went on to add four future schools in BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF.
Now, as football season approaches, Brett Yormark is taking campus tours at all member schools – but made the priority of each school clear. Kelly Hines of the Tulsa World reported on Tuesday night that after visiting eight schools, the commissioner will tour each of the four new members in early September.
However, the two schools not included in his current itinerary are Texas and Oklahoma. Although both schools will remain members until 2025 – or when the two sides agree on a split – Yormark is not concerned with taking in the views of Austin or Norman.
“I’ll get to Texas and Oklahoma at some point in time,” said Yormark.
Big 12 announces location of championship game
Since the Big 12 brought back their conference championship game, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, has been the host venue. The two announced they would be extending their partnership, with the stadium nicknamed “Jerry World” hosting the event through the 2025 season.

Brand new Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark has accomplished one of his first tasks in charge of the conference. He called AT&T Stadium one of “the world’s finest” but said there’s a lot more to offer than just a football venue. He thinks the experience for fans in the area is top-notch throughout the entire event.
“We are pleased to extend our partnership with the Dallas Cowboys for another two years, and to continue holding our football championship in one of the world’s finest stadiums,” said Yormark. “The climate-controlled environment along with nearby hotels and the Texas Live! entertainment district provide our guests a best-in-class football experience.”
