Brock Huard blasts group of Heisman voters, makes case for Ashton Jeanty over Travis Hunter

Next week, the Heisman Trophy finalists will be announced. It’s shaping up to be a two-player race, though, between Travis Hunter and Ashton Jeanty – but FOX analyst Brock Huard had a message for voters.
Huard was on the call for the Mountain West Championship along with Jason Benetti and implored the committee to watch the title games before casting their Heisman votes. Hunter the favorite to win it, but Jeanty is closing in on a record year and helped Boise State to a league title. The Broncos are also in line for a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff.
Of course, there are more games tomorrow, and one contender – Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel – will also be playing. Huard said those games matter, as well, and should be part of the voting process.
“I said it earlier, if you already voted and you’re a Heisman voter … just don’t vote ever again. It just makes no sense to me,” Huard said during the fourth quarter. “Get every data point for all of these guys – for Dillon tomorrow. Get every data point you can.”
Huard then made the case for Jeanty to win college football’s most prestigious award. The Boise State star is in the midst of a historic season, totaling 2,497 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns while adding 119 receiving yards and a touchdown in the air. He’s now closing in on Barry Sanders’ all-time rushing record of 2,628 yards, which adds to Jeanty’s case for the Heisman.

Brock Huard argued coaches would vote in favor of Jeanty of Hunter, the two-way sensation who turned in a 1,000-yard season at wide receiver and had four interceptions at cornerback. While he acknowledged the Colorado star’s skillset, Huard said the fact Jeanty led Boise State to a College Football Playoff bye should help his case.
“To me … if only coaches voted, Ashton Jeanty would win the Heisman,” Huard said. “I really fully believe that. They know. Travis Hunter’s the most spectacular, most dynamic player. But the best player, who’s elevated his team to a championship and a playoff and a bye is that guy. And I love Travis Hunter.”
The four Heisman Trophy finalists will be announced Monday night. Then, they will head to New York for the ceremony on Saturday.
