Bruce Arians updates Antonio Brown drama, team makes decision on status
It is day number four of the ongoing story involving wide receiver Antonio Brown and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It seemed like a done deal that Brown’s time with Tampa Bay was officially done after Sunday. But here it is Wednesday, and the Buccaneers have yet to make a move. Tampa Bay still has not released the receiver, nor have they put any roster designations on him.
The disgruntled receiver did appear on the Buccaneers practice report for Wednesday as a nonparticipant for non-injury-related reasons.
Greg Auman, of The Athletic, posted this tweet on Wednesday as the situation continues to develop.
“Arians said how Bucs will handle Antonio Brown’s roster status is a ‘management decision.’ Made it clear he’s not part of the team moving forward.”
This whole thing started in Brown’s second game back after serving a three-game suspension. With the Buccaneers struggling against the Jets, frustrations were boiling over. Well, something must’ve set Brown off. He decided to take his shirt off, and throw it into the crowd. It didn’t stop there. Afterward, Brown ran to the locker room, stopping in the opposite end-zone and waving to the crowd. Before entering the tunnel, Brown threw up the peace sign to the fans in attendance.
Arians original response to Brown’s actions
Fox reporter Jay Glazer was able to talk with Tamp Bay head coach Bruce Arians after this game. He said Brown was supposed to be on the field but the wide receiver refused. Once he did, Arians told him to get out and leave the team.

When asked if he saw the entire sequence of Brown talking off his jersey, Arians said, “Yeah, I did. Never seen anything like it in all my years.”
After the game, Arians said Brown has been cut and will no longer be with the organization. When the wide receiver was originally signed, Arians said he could make one mistake before the team decided to move on. This was one of a couple major incidents surrounding Brown. For Arians, it was the last straw.
Fox sideline reporter Chris Myers provided an update on the situation after the game. He caught up with the security from Met Life Stadium, who saw how everything unfolded when the cameras were not around.
“Security said Antonio Brown ran out of stadium shirtless & into a police car to be escorted to flight by himself out of town away from the Buccaneers!,” Myers said via Twitter on Sunday. “This after he tore off his jersey during game threw his shirt in the stands freaking out.”
