Bruce Feldman says the Pac-12 is 'dwindling'

There’s a chance that the Pac-12 could cease to exist in a future that’s much nearer than any of us anticipated. While he doesn’t necessarily think it’s that bad, FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman does believe that the conference is taking on the kind of water that they might not be able to overcome.

Feldman joined ‘The Rich Eisen Show’ to join the realignment conversation out west. It might eventually fall on Arizona’s potential decision but, to him, Feldman thinks the Pac-12 is hanging by a thread.

“It is dwindling. And I think we’ll see what Arizona does,” Feldman said.

So much of the discourse about the Pac-12 has to do with the league’s television deal. Their inability to sign one of substance tells Feldman all he needs to know about the Pac-12’s current brand. That’s especially true considering how inaccessible their content has been in the past on top of having already lost their two biggest programs a year ago.

“The big issue here is what is the broadcast TV deal going to be? Where are we going to be able to watch it? And let’s know, going in, that the previous commissioner, Larry Scott, had kind of bungled around with the Pac-12 Network and who could see it,” explained Feldman. “Large portions of their fans, including the ones who live here in southern California, where, by the way, the two schools now are not going to be Pac-12 schools, couldn’t see it, couldn’t access it even if you wanted to.”

“We’ve known this for a little while, whether it was going to be Amazon or Apple. But Apple had been a legit factor in this. But then, okay, who else is going to pick it up?,” Feldman asked. “It’s a diminished brand because of no USC, no UCLA. Especially the no USC part. So you’re taking your flagship schools out.”

Again, the Trojans and Bruins have been out the door for some time now. Colorado was their most recent defector with Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Washington, and Utah all also reportedly considering their options.

George Kliavkoff might be able to salvage something before anything backbreaking happens. However, with several programs seemingly ready to bolt at any given notice, it’s seemingly becoming do-or-die time for the Pac-12 when it comes to realignment.

Finebaum advises Arizona, Arizona State and Utah to ‘jump, run … get away from the Pac-12’

It’s time for Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah to jump ship from the Pac-12 and get to the Big 12, or somewhere at this point, according to ESPN’s Paul Finebaum.

After the Pac-12 presented a potential streaming deal with Apple, there isn’t too much confidence around the league to make this new media work and work well. Following a Board of Regents meeting in Arizona, there’s speculation the Arizona schools could leave very soon, following Colorado’s move to the Big 12.

Overall, Finebaum blasted the Pac-12 and encouraged the three previously mentioned schools to get out.

“Jump, run, do anything they can to get away from the Pac-12,” Finebaum said Wednesday on Get Up. “I mean, I was listening to Pete (Thamel). And you’re going to go to a college president when he has a good deal over here. And you say, ‘Hey, listen, doctor, president of Arizona, Arizona State, Utah. Be patient. If we can get enough people to sign up on Apple that we are going to be great.’”

“Well the bottom line is this guys – Nobody’s signing up on Apple to watch the Pac-12. Because there’s nothing to watch once you lose Colorado, UCLA and USC. I mean, I don’t want to be the guy that keeps burying this lede because I think I did it the other day. But I’m gonna keep doing it. Somebody needs to shovel dirt on this league and end this charade. It’s over for the Pac-12. And if these three don’t get out of there? They’re going down with the ship.”
