The battle for Beaumont (Texas) West Brook four-star safety Bryce Anderson is over, and Texas A&M finished on top.

The 6-foot, 190 pounder is the No. 20 player in the country, so a lot of eyes have been on him and his recruitment. He had a commitment date set for July 4 originally. Then he looked to make a decision early in the season.

But after visits to Texas and Texas A&M last weekend, Anderson knew he was ready.

“It was not easy, and I thought about it a lot, but Texas A&M has been that school for a little while,” Anderson said. “It is just great vibes with everyone there. I feel at home every time I am at Texas A&M and it just feels right for me there.”

Feeling in College Station was ‘different’ for Bryce Anderson

Alabama was actually Texas A&M’s biggest competition early. But after Texas hired Steve Sarkisian, the Longhorns jumped back in the race.

And it turned out to be an in-state battle in the end.

“The best in Texas stay in Texas, so that is what I decided to do,” Bryce Anderson said. “I felt it was Texas A&M for a while, but I wanted to make sure before I committed. Since my official visit in June, I have had a strong feeling for Texas A&M.”

Anderson talked about his connection with the players in College Station, Texas, and how he felt around the staff being very important in his decision.

“Everyone made me feel comfortable and at home,” Anderson said. “I loved the energy. The people are great. The feeling I had there was different.”

Playing in the SEC means something

Jimbo Fisher is entering his fourth season as the Texas A&M head coach, and he has loaded the Aggie roster with talent. Bryce Anderson has taken notice of that, and he is excited about what Fisher and his staff are putting together.

“I love the team and the players Texas A&M has and what they are bringing in,” Anderson said. “There are some players at Texas A&M, and I am going to be bringing some dogs with me in this class, too. We are going to compete in the SEC, and I will get to compete against the best.”

Anderson was set on playing in the SEC. Texas moving to the SEC gave Anderson reason to give the Longhorns a little more thought. He will now be headed to that conference as an Aggie.

“When I was focused mainly on Alabama and Texas A&M, it had a lot to do with them playing in the SEC,” Anderson said. “Texas moving to the SEC made me look at them a little more because I love the conference. I now get to stay in my home state, play for Texas A&M and play in the SEC.

“It feels great to have my decision made and be part of the Aggie family. I love the tradition, the network of people there and what is being built to compete in the SEC.”
