BYU transfer quarterback Ryder Burton commits to West Virginia
West Virginia was looking for help in its quarterback room and appears to have found it in the form of BYU transfer quarterback Ryder Burton.
Burton announced his commitment to West Virginia out of the NCAA transfer portal on Saturday morning.
“Something about the hills,” Burton wrote. “Committed!!”
Burton will arrive at West Virginia after spending just one season at Boise State. He did not record any statistics in his lone year on campus in Provo.
Prior to enrolling at BYU, Ryder Burton was ranked as a three-star prospect and the No. 1,358 overall recruit in the nation in the 2023 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
He also checked in as the No. 72 quarterback in the class and the No. 14 overall player in the state of Utah, hailing from Springville (UT) Springville.

Miller made the announcement that he’d be coming to Starkville in a post on social media on Friday.
Miller spent the first five years of his career at Kent State before joining West Virginia last offseason for this past year. That will make this upcoming fall as his seventh playing college football.
Miller had entered his name into the transfer portal on the final day of April. Now, just over a week later, he has found his third program with him joining the Bulldogs as of today.
In 39 games, including 24 starts, with the Golden Flashes, Miller posted 116 tackles, 18 deflections, six interceptions, and a pair of forced fumbles with two recoveries. He then appeared in only one game with the Mountaineers this last season after a surgery for an undisclosed injury. During that one effort against Penn State in the season opener, he finished with three tackles.
Miller, a native of Blythewood, South Carolina, played high school football at Westwood. He was a three-star prospect and the No. 1,741 overall recruit in the 2018 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also rated as a Top-275 WR at the time as well as a Top-40 player from his state.
Miller was the No. 555 overall transfer and the No. 68 CB per On3’s 2024 Transfer Portal Top Players.
