A decision could be coming soon for Florida transfer Cade Fisher. One of the most coveted players in the transfer portal, he could make his call in the next 24 hours, according to D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers.

Fisher entered the portal June 28 after an up-and-down sophomore season in Gainesville. In 26 appearances, including nine starts, he had a 7.14 ERA to go with a 4-3 record. However, he still recorded 76 strikeouts – nearly 30 more than he totaled as a freshman in 2023.

However, Fisher made quite the impression during his first year of college baseball. He as a Perfect Game All-American as he finished with 6-0 record and a 3.10 ERA, along with 48 strikeouts, in 49.1 innings of work. He also only gave up 13 walks.

Fisher started off the season as one of the weekend starters for the Gators before moving to a role in the bullpen after struggling a touch with his control. But the stuff he has to work with is elite, and he has pitched in plenty of big spots for the Gators the last two years. Fisher gave Florida four solid innings in a College World Series game against NC State, while also pitching a solid 3.1 innings in a win-or-go-home regional contest against Oklahoma State.

Cade Fisher is one of the biggest names remaining in the portal. He’s the No. 1 player left on the open market as of Friday afternoon, according to D1Baseball.

Five Florida freshmen entered the transfer portal

Five Florida Gators freshmen entered the NCAA transfer portal while the window was open. Among those five players who entered the portal, four of them are pitchers.

The four pitchers are Robert SatinReilly WitmerAlex Philpott, and Jacob Gomberg. The position player is Blake Brookin.

The Gators decided to enter the transfer portal following Florida’s run in Omaha at the College World Series. After going 13-17 in SEC play to end the season, Florida was able to go on a run in the NCAA Tournament, making it all the way to Omaha. There, the Gators managed to win two games but had two losses to Texas A&M to eliminate them.

The NCAA transfer portal opened for a 30-day window for baseball players to enter following the Regional round of the NCAA Tournament. Athletes planning to transfer had until July 2 to make their decision.
