Caden Durham: Live commitment announcement from 4-star RB

It is a decision day double-header featuring Duncanville (Texas) four-star running back Caden Durham. The 5-foot-9, 195-pound ball carrier will announce his decision today on the On3 YouTube Channel at 2:00 p.m. CT along with Duncanville (Texas) five-star EDGE Colin Simmons.

Durham’s decision has come down to Oklahoma, Texas A&M and LSU.

He is the No. 105 overall prospect and No. 8 running back in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 21 player in Texas.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), LSU is the overwhelming favorite to land Durham’s commitment at a 95.3% chance. Oklahoma and Texas A&M each have under a 2% chance for Durham per the RPM.

“Durham, who has family ties all across Oklahoma and was a part of the Sooners’ biggest recruiting weekend of the summer in June, has long been a priority target in the backfield for DeMarco Murray,” On3 National Recruiting Analyst Sam Spiegelman wrote on Tuesday.

“The Sooners are still swinging for Durham, but momentum has moved in favor of LSU since returning to Baton Rouge for the Bayou Splash last month. Consecutive trips to campus in June and July have the Tigers in a strong position to add a massive blue-chip back to their backfield in this 2024 cycle as the class rounds into shape. My RPM has been locked on LSU since.”

Durham broke down his top contenders when he announced his commitment date at the start of the month.

Oklahoma: “Demarco (Murray) has already been through it so he knows what it takes to get there.”

Texas A&M: “In the last 8 years, coach (Jimbo) Fisher sent eight RBs to the league. So his type of offense will prepare you for the league.”

LSU: “The culture there is just different. Frank (Wilson) has sent over 10 RBs to the league so he knows what an NFL running back looks like and for me to be the only back they are recruiting is big.”
