Cal tight end Jack Endries expected to hit portal

Cal tight end Jack Endries is expected to enter the transfer portal, sources tell On3. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pound tight end has posted 1,030 career receiving yards and four touchdowns. A former walk-on, Endries earned Freshman All-American honors by several outlets following his breakout 2023 season.
Viewed as one of the top returning tight ends in college football, Endries will be the most sought-after tight end in the portal. His 1,030 receiving yards over the past two seasons are the most by any returning Power Four tight end. According to Pro Football Focus, he dropped only one pass in 2024 while catching nine of his 12 contested targets.

Cal starting quarterback Fernando Mendoza hit the portal in the winter, deciding to transfer to Indiana. That could be a potential option for Jack Endries. The Golden Bears have replenished their quarterback room by adding Ohio State transfer Devin Brown and Oregon transfer Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele.
Next to offensive and defensive linemen, tight end will be a position of need for multiple teams, including Texas and Alabama. The 10-day spring transfer portal window officially opens for business on Wednesday.
