California guard Andrej Stojakovic will visit Illinois on Tuesday, On3 has learned. Stojakovic entered the NCAA transfer portal following one season with the Bears.

He’s one of the top available playmakers in the transfer portal. And his shooting clip — and lineage — will make him a coveted target.

Stojakovic had a breakout campaign at California, starting in 28 of his 29 appearances. He averaged a team-high 17.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 42.7% from the field and 31.8% from beyond the arc.

For his efforts, he was named an All-ACC Honorable Mention selection and received several votes for the conference’s Most Improved Player of the Year Award. Andrej Stojakovic saved his best for last and erupted for a career-high 37 points in California’s loss to Stanford in the ACC Tournament.

Although the Golden Bears couldn’t come away with the win, Stojakovic was phenomenal, shooting 13-22 from the field and 4-7 from downtown. He hauled in five rebounds in the process as well.

In his freshman season at Stanford, Stojakovic made 32 appearances and 10 starts. He averaged 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 22.3 minutes per game. He was slightly less efficient from the floor, connecting on 40.9% of his shot attempts.

Andrej Stojakovic played high school basketball at Jesuit (CA), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 24 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Stojakovic wasn’t included in On3 reporter James Fletcher III’s NBA mock draft but he was listed as a name to watch. Alas, it appears Andrej Stojakovic has decided to return to college for at least one more season before taking his talents to the next level.

Could Illinois be the destination for the talented NBA legacy? That’s certainly the goal for coach Brad Underwood.

On3’s Grant Grubbs also contributed to this report.
