California QB commit Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele earns 5-star ranking from On3
With high school football playoffs underway across the nation and National Signing Day just over two weeks away, On3 has updated its recruiting rankings for the 2025 class. Ewa Beach (Hawaii) James Campbell quarterback and California commit Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele is the No. 19 overall prospect and a new five-star in the 2025 On300.
The latest edition of On3’s 2025 rankings features 25 five-star prospects, up six from the previous update in September. Of those 25 five-stars, 23 are committed to college programs.
The 6-foot-2.5, 220-pound Sagapolutele committed to Cal on July 18 and has seen a meteoric rise in the recruiting rankings after an impressive senior season, up from No. 291 in the previous edition of the On300. On3 is significantly higher on Sagapolutele than the other major recruiting services.
Earlier this month, Sagapolutele broke the record for career passing yards in the state of Hawaii. He now sits atop a leaderboard that includes the likes of Timmy Chang, McKenzie Milton, Dillion Gabriel and Tua Tagovailoa.
Sagapolutele is the lone California commit ranked in the updated 2025 On300. The Golden Bears currently have the No. 63 class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings for this cycle.

They will have to work hard to hold onto him though, as both Oregon and Georgia have made big late pushes to land him. The Ducks already hosted him for an official visit, and the Bulldogs will bring him to Athens this weekend.
Scout’s Take on Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele
On3’s scouting and rankings team writes this about Sagapolutele as a prospect:
“Big-armed lefty who is one of the top arm talents in the 2025 cycle. Measured in at around 6-foot-2.5, 220 pounds with a 10-inch hand prior to his senior season. Saw his stock skyrocket in his final year of high school, starting with a strong showing at the Elite 11 Finals in the summer. Put together some of the best senior film of any 2025 quarterback, making a variety of high-difficulty throws. Has a quick, natural release and one of the three strongest arms in the cycle. Gets the ball out quickly with considerable velocity. Shows the ability to attack all areas of the field as a passer.
“Has a beautiful deep ball, throwing with ideal trajectory and location. Stands out when throwing in to small windows over the middle of the field. An effortless touch passer when working in the red zone. Showed strong pocket feel as a senior, stepping up in the pocket and doing a good job of evading pressure. Highly productive through the air on Friday nights, finishing his career as the state of Hawaii’s all-time passer. Led his team to an outstanding season and No. 1 state ranking at a program that is not a traditional power. More of a pocket passer than a dual threat, but is able to run for yardage when the play breaks down. While adequate, can continue improving his overall athleticism. Looks to be one of the cycle’s top passers with all-league potential and the upside of being an early round NFL Draft pick.”
