California transfer DB Kaylin Moore commits to UCLA
Former California cornerback Kaylin Moore has committed to UCLA, via the NCAA Transfer Portal. Moore began his career at Colorado, where he spent two seasons before transferring to Cal ahead of the 2023 campaign.
In his lone season with the Golden Bears, Moore made 11 appearances. He tallied 24 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and two passes defended.
In his two years at Colorado, Moore made 20 appearances, including 14 starts. The 5-foot-11 DB amassed five tackles, one tackle for loss and three pass breakups in his limited time with the Buffaloes.
Kaylin Moore played high school football at Oaks Christian High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,360 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Moore initially entered the transfer portal on April 26. Along with his decision to enter the portal, Moore released a heartfelt message on social media.
“Thank you to God for blessing me with the opportunity to do what I love every day,” Moore wrote. “I want to say thank you to all my Bears teammates and the fans who welcomed and supported me at Cal.
“I would also like to thank Coach Wilcox and the Cal coaching staff who contributed to my development as a player. I am also grateful to the Cal administration, faculty and staff who have helped me during my time in Berkeley.”

UCLA lands commitment from former UNLV offensive lineman
Moore won’t be the only fresh face for the Bruins this fall. In late April, former UNLV offensive lineman Alan Makihele committed to UCLA, via the NCAA Transfer Portal. Makihele spent the last four years with the Rebels, slowly emerging as a contributor along the line.
During his first two years on campus, Makihele failed to appear in a game, taking a redshirt for the 2020 season before being inactive in 2021.
He then played in six games in 2022 to earn his first letter, before playing in all 13 games for UNLV during the 2023 season. He should instantly provide some help for the Bruins along the interior of the offensive line.
Alani Makihele was a three-star recruit and the No. 1,965 overall prospect in the 2020 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He also checked in as the No. 130 interior offensive lineman in the class and the No. 1 overall player from the state of Alaska, hailing from Anchorage (AK) West.
