Cam Fancher injury: FAU QB carted off field after big hit in game vs. ECU
Florida Atlantic quarterback Cam Fancher is done for the night on Thursday evening, after he was leveled late in the first quarter of the FAU-ECU game. He was a hit by an ECU defender a little bit late after a pass and landed awkwardly on his throwing shoulder as he came to the ground.
Fancher was down on the field for a few minutes, before eventually riding the cart back to the locker room to be medically evaluated. He was clearly experiencing pain in his throwing shoulder after the hit. Trainers and medical staff tended to him for several minutes on the field, before his teammates surrounded him, and he was carted off.
The game is in the second quarter and being televised on ESPN2. Freshman Kasen Weisman is in at quarterback for the FAU Owls now. Early in the second quarter, Fancher eventually returned to the FAU sidelines with his left arm in a sling. He was seen shaking his head vigorously as the team huddled during a timeout.

FAU sources respond to Ray Lewis report from ESPN
In the third quarter after halftime, Alyssa Lang of ESPN updated Fancher’s status. She spoke with FAU head coach Tom Herman and he relayed the information to her that Fancher is dealing with a fracture in his left shoulder. Unfortunately for the Owls, backup Kasen Weisman had to leave the game due to an injury in the third quarter, and third string QB Tyriq Starks came in for a few minutes. But Weisman eventually came back in the game, even though he was clearly in pain.
ECU was throttling FAU for much of the game, holding a commanding 42-7 advantage with 9:30 left in the fourth quarter. The Pirates will improve to 5-4 overall with the win, whereas FAU will drop to 2-7 overall with the loss.
