Cam Ward, a four-star small forward in the 2025 class, is down to four schools. Moving forward, the 6-foot-7 senior out of Largo High School (MD) will consider Kansas State, Maryland, Michigan State, and Virginia.

Ward, a native of Washington, D.C., has taken official visits to each of his finalists. He plans to announce his commitment on October 30th.

He previously considered programs like Marquette, Mississippi State, Alabama, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, and Florida State.

Ward is the No. 55 overall recruit in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s also the No. 12 small forward prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

“One, having a family aspect is big for me. Two, having a development plan for me that is going to be consistent. I don’t want to show up and then just be on my own. I want tough love and tough coaching. So those two things and then of course a degree.

“I want to get a degree that is going to help me outside of basketball. My mom is big on the academic side. She keeps telling me that she is not going to let me go somewhere that does not have academics. I’d like to do something in sports, Sports Management or Sports Business. I was actually looking at Sports Medicine recently, but some schools recruiting me told me how taking Biology and Sciences might not line up with playing athletics, but some of the schools say it will line up. But I want to do something with sports.”

Ward Scouting Report

“Cam Ward has a great frame with good length and athleticism. The best part of his game might be his nose for production. Ward finds his way on the boards and is very opportune in finding scoring opportunities. Ware is at his best playing downhill toward the rim. He stretches his legs in transition and can finish above the rim in traffic. Would like to see him continue to develop more off the bounce, especially counters when his straight line path is cut off, and more consistency with the jump shot. Ward is a physical defender able to guard either forward position. He has produced, consistently, at each level.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
