North Carolina are the outright regular season ACC Champions, earning the title in quite a special way. Taking down Duke at Cameron Indoor is always a special moment but being able to celebrate a championship makes it that much sweeter. Hubert Davis and his team will celebrate an 84-79 win, ruining another night of celebration for their arch-rivals.

Right as the buzzer sounded, the entire Carolina bench went over to the opposing side of the court to celebrate. The Cameron Crazies did not like the move too much, with words being exchanged between the groups. Of course, Duke fans were not too thrilled, while UNC players were gloating a little.

Unfortunately, liquid and cups began to fly from the stands. Being directed right at the players celebrating, Cameron Indoor began to direct them away from the crowd and closer to their own bench. Eventually, North Carolina went back into the locker room where the party likely continued.

While the North Carolina players are waving goodbye, it might be temporary. There is always a chance to meet in the ACC Tournament, where the two Tabacco Road programs are favorites to meet up in the championship game.

After watching North Carolina earn the regular season sweep, getting a third matchup would give Duke another opportunity. But at the same time, Tar Heel players would really enjoy another moment of waving goodbye in Greensboro.

North Carolina earns another statement win at Cameron Indoor Stadium

North Carolina has become quite accustomed to playing in big games against Duke. They will never forget the Final Four matchup in New Orleans, sending Coach K home in his final game ever as the Blue Devils head coach with a loss.

However, the Tar Heels have really excelled in the rivalry with championships on the line. Eight different times have an ACC Championship — split or outright — been on the line for UNC heading into a regular season Duke-North Carolina matchup.

All eight have been won by North Carolina, with three of them occurring at Cameron Indoor.

“A @UNCKirschner note: Since the last time UNC and Duke split the ACC regular-season title in 2001, those teams have played the season finale with a potential UNC title (outright or shared) on the line eight times,” Brendan Marks on The Athletic said via X. “UNC won all eight… including three times at Cameron.”
