Cardale Jones challenges Malik Zaire following former Notre Dame QB trashing Will Howard

Two former college quarterbacks could be putting money where their mouths are on this year’s title game in the College Football Playoff.

Over this weekend, Notre Dame’s Malik Zaire has had online criticism of QB Willl Howard. In turn, Ohio State’s Cardale Jones has taken up for Howard with a challenge to Zaire.

“I’m willing to bet some money on the game if you are. @MalikZaire8 nothing crazy, just to keep things interesting,” Jones tweeted.

That was in response to one of multiple tweets that Zaire has posted about the Buckeyes ahead of the national championship.

However, Zaire may not be quick to take Jones’ wager on the game.

“I can’t bet everybody lol I’m just saying we are going to win #GoIrish,” Zaire tweeted with a laugh emoji on Sunday.

If Zaire did bet on anything, though, it would be against Ohio State, specifically props on Howard to play poorly against the defense of the Fighting Irish.

“I’d take the under on whatever Will Howard’s stat line is. And any 2nd half bets available! And any realistic bet you want! #IrishForAllTheMarbles,” Zaire wrote.

There’s still a week before kickoff where these two teams can settle this on the field. Still, for all Smith had to say about Howard, Jones came to the defense of his fellow Buckeye quarterback tonight.

Malik Zaire trashes Will Howard, Ohio State ahead of national championship

Malik Zaire had some harsh words for Will Howard going into Notre Dame vs. Ohio State in the College Football Playoff.

Zaire took to Twitter over the weekend to share his takes on the Fighting Irish’s final opponent in the title game.

“All the great QBs Ohio State has had the last 15 yrs and Howard is def the worst one by far and ostate fans are trying to convince me that he’s gonna lead them to the chip?!?! Lmao ok,” Smith typed. “I’d even take the OG Jalin Marshall at QB before Howard!!!!!!!!”

Again, this was one of several posts that Smith has shared.

“The only thing stopping ND and Marcus Freeman from making history is………..Will Howard?!?!?! Yeah I’m taking all bets on Green! Let’s go Irish!!!!!” Smith also wrote.

Smith posted lowlights from Howard’s performance during Ohio State’s loss in The Game as well.
