On3 Intel: Tate was on the verge of committing early in November, and was down to Notre Dame and Ohio State. But he opted not to, and has now opened things back up a bit.
He told On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons that he is “trying to see as many schools as I can this spring.” Ohio State, Notre Dame and Tennessee are still very much in the mix, but he is looking at LSU, Alabama, Texas A&M, Miami, and others.
LSU has made an impression by hiring former Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly, who Tate has a good rapport with. And Tennessee majorly impressed Tate and his mother when they visited this fall. The Buckeyes and Fighting Irish are who he is most familiar with, though he is rebuilding some of the relationships after Notre Dame after the coaching change.
Tate said he is likely to decide this summer after his spring visits and potentially official visits.

Tate currently ranks as the No. 16 player in the country, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He also ranks as the No. 3 receiver and the No. 4 prospect in Florida, according to the On3 Consensus.
Carnell Tate currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $27K, which ranks 214th in the On3 High School Football NIL Rankings. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
