Tennessee 4-star TE commit Carson Sneed cancels official visits to Colorado, UCLA

Nashville DCA four-star tight end Carson Sneed committed to Tennessee last August and remains pledged to the in-state school. The door is not entirely closed on his recruitment, however.
The 6-foot-5.5, 235-pounder has continued to keep contact with other programs and recently set an extensive official visit schedule, which kicked off last month at North Carolina. On Wednesday, though, Sneed announced that he’s canceled a pair of upcoming trips.
“After lots of prayer and consideration I have decided it’s best for me and my family to cancel my OVs to Colorado and UCLA, thank yall for the opportunity and will be wishing y’all the best,” Sneed wrote on X.
UCLA’s official visit was set for the weekend of May 16, with Colorado’s set for June 13. With those now off the table, Ole Miss (May 30), Miami (June 6) and Tennessee (June 20) now remain on the docket for the blue-chipper.
When speaking with On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons last month, Sneed updated his process, reaffirming his commitment to Tennessee while still keeping other options open:
“I am still committed, but just exploring my options and making sure I do what is best for me,” Sneed said.
“These schools are trying to convince me to pick their school,” he added. “It is about the relationships, the offense and how they would use me. I am still committed to Tennessee, so I just have to decide what is best for me. It is about getting developed me for me and seeing who will give me the best shot.”

Sneed coming off OV to North Carolina
At the end of April Sneed did get a look at the new-look, Bill Belichick-led program in Chapel Hill. Sneed’s older brother, Dayton, has now transferred from Tennessee to UNC. The Tar Heels gave Sneed plenty to think about.
“The chance to get coached by NFL legends,” Sneed said of what stands out about UNC to On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “It feels like everyone there either coached or played in the NFL, and to know what Coach Belichick did with guys like Gronk and Aaron Hernandez excites me because I know he knows how to use me.”
“They are definitely way up there, this weekend helped them a lot for sure.”
Sneed is the No. 312 overall prospect and No. 16 TE in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 10 player in Tennessee.
To date, Sneed is one of seven commits in Tennessee’s 2026 recruiting class. He’s one of four blue-chippers in the mix for head coach Josh Heupel and Co. The class, headlined by five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon, ranks No. 12 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
